Minera Los Pelambres, Salamanca, Choapa, Coquimbo, Chile. A copper mine, one of the largest in the world, with some 2,100 million tonnes of reserves. Production began in late 1999 and is now running at a level of 320,000 tonnes of payable copper in concentrate annually. Los Pelambres has an estimated mine life of at least 30 years.
